Description
Anyone who produces, carries or receives business waste in England and Wales has a legal duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and every transfer of that waste must be recorded on a waste transfer note signed by both parties. A duplicate book is the practical way to do it: the carrier keeps one copy, you keep the other, and either of you can produce it if the Environment Agency asks. You must hold your copies for two years.
Our personalised waste transfer note books are printed in full colour on A5 NCR paper, 50 sets per book, with your logo and company details on every set. The form is laid out in four sections, description of waste with tick-box waste types and container size, waste producer with postcode and SIC code, transporter with haulier name, waste carriers licence and vehicle registration, and disposal site with permit number, plus signature and date lines throughout and the regulation 12 waste hierarchy declaration already printed.
Free design service
We offer a free design service based on our templates (logo design not included), or we can print your own ready-to-print artwork at no extra cost. Our pads are perforated and stapled at the top for a professional finish, but we can glue them instead if you prefer — just let us know. See our full range of NCR forms.
Free sequential numbering
Numbering can be included free of charge. Just tell us how you need them numbered and we’ll set it up.
How to prevent copy bleed-through
A white 400gsm board is included with each pad to place between sets, preventing anything copying onto the next set.

Waste transfer note FAQs
What is a duty of care waste transfer note?
It’s the written record of a business waste transfer, required under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. It describes the waste, identifies the producer and the carrier, and is signed and dated by both. Every load of business waste needs one, whether it goes in a skip, a van or a trade waste bin.
What information must a waste transfer note include?
A description of the waste and how much of it, the type of container, the address it came from and where it’s going, the date and place of transfer, the names and addresses of both parties, the carrier’s registration number, the SIC code of the business producing the waste, and a declaration that the waste hierarchy has been applied. Both parties sign it.
How long do I have to keep waste transfer notes?
Two years from the date of transfer. The Environment Agency can ask to see them at any point in that window, and failing to produce them is an offence. Keeping the duplicate copy bound in the book, in date order, is the simplest way to stay compliant.
Do I need a waste transfer note for every collection?
For one-off transfers, yes. For regular collections of the same type of waste from the same place by the same carrier, you can use a season ticket — a single note covering up to twelve months of transfers. Most businesses use a book for skips, clearances and ad-hoc loads, and a season ticket for the weekly trade bin.
What’s the difference between a waste transfer note and a consignment note?
A transfer note covers non-hazardous business waste. Hazardous waste — asbestos, oils, chemicals, batteries, fluorescent tubes — needs a consignment note instead, which is a different document with its own reference numbering. This book is for non-hazardous transfers only.
Waste carriers and skip operators often order these alongside our personalised invoice books and duplicate receipt books.
